Fire Safety Week
This year national fire safety week runs from the 7th to the 13th of October.
The slogan for this years campaign is STOP FIRE.
Are you doing everthing possible to STOP FIRE?
S is for smoke detectors. Do you have at least 1 smoke detector in each floor of your house or business
T is for test smoke detectors. You should test your smoke detectors weekly to ensure they are working ok
O is for obvious dangers. Make sure cigarettes are extinguished properly, put up a fire guard etc.
P is for plan an escape route. What would you do if a fire started in your house? How would you get out?
As well as smoke detectors every house should have carbon monoxide detector(s) fitted also.
We would also recommend having a fire blanket for the kitchen area.
Nobody thinks that a fire will happen in their home, yet we can all call to mind recent tragedies where people have lost their lives in house fires. By taking the above preventative measures you could save your own and your family's lives.
